Building a useful demo workspace

A practical checklist for turning a fresh install into a realistic product tour with demo records and public content.

Building a useful demo workspace

A blank database hides the product

Demo data is not just filler. It gives every dashboard, chart, table, and detail view enough context to show what the system is designed to do. That is especially important in a modular SaaS platform where value appears across connected workflows.

A good demo workspace includes sample customers, products, invoices, deals, contracts, subscriptions, and enough content for the public pages to look alive.

Keep the data believable

The best demo records look like a business someone might actually run: clear names, plausible dates, varied statuses, and cross-links between related records.
